RCMP have provided an update to the traffic fatality in Whitehorse that happened in November 2019.
On November 21, 2019, officers from Whitehorse RCMP and Yukon RCMP Traffic Services attended to a report of collision on 2nd Avenue and Elliott Street. Investigators determined a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that had failed to stop at the intersection. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. A news release was issued on the incident the following day on November 22.
The investigation continued and has resulted in a charge being laid against the 39-year-old female driver of the vehicle for Fail to Yield to Pedestrian at a Crosswalk under the Motor Vehicle Act. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 14, 2020.
