In support of the food bank, worker's rights the Employees Union were out to "Feed The People"
Feed the People
Hundreds of people turned out for the 24th annual union sponsored labor day barbeque at Shipyards park in Whitehorse under beautiful sunny skies yesterday.

Magalie Picard is an indigenous citizen from Windkee Quebec and also the national executive vice-president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada. One of the largest and most powerful unions in the country.
She flew up from Ottawa to celebrate labor day in Whitehorse She says she got involved in the union for social justice reasons while she was working at veterans affairs.
Steve Geick is president of the Yukon Employees union. He was flipping burgers yesterday at Shipyards.
He says YEU has at lot on its plate at the moment including Air North flight attendants going into conciliation and an impasse with Many Rivers.

Geick says wages are minor issues in negotiations in 2018 and that employers are looking increasingly for concessions.
Many contingents took part in the community gathering including St. John's Ambulance, Many Rivers and the Whitehorse Food Bank, who collected a mountain of Macaroni (Mt Mac) by donation.
